Here's what a recent student of the wine school had to say, “When Rob opened up his wine store in Lake Mills, I was happy for Lake Mills because I knew it was a great business addition. But I didn't think it would impact me because I was not a wine drinker. As Rob and I became friends through the Main Street Program, I found myself walking around events he hosted, one of the only people without a glass in my hand. "Why aren't you drinking wine?" Rob would ask incredulously. "Because it gives me a headache. I just don't really like wine, I guess," was my guilty reply.

But luckily, Rob looked past my naive experience and assured me that I just hadn't been exposed to the correct wines yet. And with that, my husband and I signed up for Rob's next Wine Appreciation Course. For the next four weeks, we learned more about wines than I thought was possible to know about any beverage - and wine, to be sure, is not like any other beverage. From American to European, for barrel aged to grapes frozen to the vine for ice wine, from Riedel wine glasses to ANY other wine glass...we learned it all. And then we learned how to pair foods with wine - so fascinating, that all of us in the class decided to create a gourmet food and wine club, and we now meet quarterly for drop-dead courses of fabulous food paired with even more fabulous wines.

Bottom line - Rob was right. I sure did NOT know much about wines, until I took his course. Rob's ability to teach his students about the wonders of wine is impressive. His classes are sold out every time. And I also know that I now like wine. So much so, that I must complete this recommendation because I'm off to uncork a nice new bottle of Petit Syrah...” February 19, 2012
